The Nut Tree Inn is the pride and joy of Mike and Imogen North.
At The Nut Tree Inn, our passion for exceptional dining is brought to life by our dedicated owners, Mike and Imogen North, along with our talented team.
With our attention to detail, expertise and love for incredible ingredients, we commit to preserving the charm of a traditional inn while embracing the creativity of modern cuisine at a Michelin standard.
Our story
How it Began
Mike and Imogen met whilst working at a hotel near Henley many moons ago.
When Mike left to run the newly refurbished Goose at Britwell Salome, Imogen agreed to help for a month to get it up and running and never left.
The Goose became a great success and to their surprise and delight was awarded a Michelin star on Mikes 25th birthday.
When the owner sold The Goose, Mike and Imogen decided to start looking for a pub of their own.
It’s a family affair
Home to Murcott
In early 2006 Imogen saw The Nut Tree was up for sale in an industry paper. Knowing that The Nut Tree was close to Mikes heart, as he had spent most of his childhood in Murcott with his Granny Peg, she reluctantly didn’t tell him as it was way over their budget.
A few months later they went to visit Granny Peg and went for a drink at The Nut Tree. Imogen told Mike that it was up for sale but over budget and he said “it is but we’ll make it work”.
In November 2006 Mike and Imogen completed on the freehold of The Nut Tree and opened its doors with a new lease of life.

The Future
Since then, The Nut Tree has earned an enviable reputation locally, nationally and internationally for its warm welcome, homely feel, friendly service and amazing food.
Awarded a Michelin star in 2008 along with 3 AA rosettes The Nut Tree has become a destination restaurant that has never lost sight of its village roots.
Mike, Imogen, Mattie and Cyril have made The Nut Tree their home and have no intention of leaving anytime soon.
